The All-Knowing God Knows You

Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.

Psalms 139:24

David prayed to God in such a way that he understood God knew him personally. He realized that the true God cared enough about each man and woman He made to search for and know them. David utilized proverbial expressions to express his belief that God knew everything about him. God knew everything about David from the beginning, just as God knew everything about you. Not only did He know you, but He also created you—every single bit of you. That demonstrates how special you are to Him. The All-knowing God cares to know you.

Knowing that someone is constantly watching over us might be frightening. We may not remember it, but as toddlers, we always felt safe and secure when our loving parents were watching over us. God is our loving Father. When we trust in our Father’s love and care for us, His constant knowledge of us is a blessing rather than a curse. God does not keep an eye on us to mock us or make a list of our transgressions. His gaze is fixed on us because He loves and cares for us. As our Father, He desires to guide us on the path to eternal life.

Like David, may we always pray, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life (Psalm 139:23-24).”

Lord, search my heart and make it pure.
