The Bush That Does Not Burn Up

February 7, 2022 Daily Devotion
By Khai Samante

So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.” - Exodus 3:3

Read Exodus 3

While Moses is tending the flock of his father-in-law, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. For a person who has been leading a flock for forty years, for sure this is not the first time for Moses to see a burning bush. But the burning bush he saw this time is different because, though the bush was on fire, he noticed it did not burn up. That’s why it took his curiosity and thought to himself, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up (v. 3).”

Do your friends see you as someone different from the others because you’re not losing hope amidst difficult situations? When work is becoming stressful, do your colleagues see you as someone who remains dedicated and excellent in his work, or do they see you as someone who keeps on complaining? We are called to be the light of this world to reflect God and his love. We should be like the burning bush Moses saw, different from the others, so that through us the world will know about God. When we keep on staying in the presence of God, he will equip us and sustain us so that whatever trials we will go through, it will never consume us. Instead, we will stand strong and keep our hearts on fire for God’s glory.

All for the glory of God!
