The Holy Spirit, Our Friend

We receive the Holy Spirit when we put our faith in Christ and declare Him to be our Lord and Saviour. The Holy Spirit’s ministry is to provide daily direction and advice, as well as to assist us in walking in God’s ways and making wise judgments. In our lives, the spirit of truth operates as an inner compass, continually leading us toward what Jesus would be, say, or do in every given situation.

The Message version referred to the Holy Spirit as a “Friend”—a friend who will take our hand and lead us into all truth. We can seek for the Holy Spirit’s help every day and give him authority over our lives. We can ask him to keep us safe from evil, restore our emotional health, lead us to righteousness, and reveal God’s will to us. God’s gift, the Holy Spirit, moves and breathes in us. Let’s not take such a gift for granted.
