The Lord Is Constantly At Your Side

Today's Daily Devotion - August 24 2022

By Khai Samante

‘I see that the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. — Acts 2:25 NLT

While the followers of Jesus are together during the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came to them. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them (Acts 2:3,4).

When the crowd heard them, some were astounded to hear each person speaking in their own tongue, while others made fun of them and claimed the followers had drank too much wine. Peter responded to the claim that the followers were drunk and attempted to properly clarify the audience’s concerns and questions by addressing what was going on. As he described what had occurred, he cited verses from Prophet Joel and King David. Peter then introduced the focus of his preaching to Jesus Christ, the resurrected Messiah.

Jesus promises us the Holy Spirit (John 14:16-18). Jesus recognized our troubled hearts. He understood that obeying God’s commands would require both God’s guidance and power. You may be going through a difficult period and feel as though everything around you is shaking. Keep in mind that the Lord is constantly at your side. As you face your battles, ask the Holy Spirit to empower and strengthen you.

I am with you. - Jesus
