The Maker and The Giver - Daily Devotion

God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. -Acts 17:24

There are two things we can learn from this scripture. First, that God is the Maker and not the other way around. God is the One who creates man and everything else in the cosmos, not the other way around. God is the creator of everything. He is the one who makes all things happen. However, until the present time, we people make our own gods. We make our work, money, or other possessions our god. Worse, we make ourselves the god of our own life. In the end God is not the projection of man; God is greater than man. Everything that exists is a product of his labor.

Second, God is our giver. He does not have any needs that we can give. In ancient times, people had to bring gifts to the gods, they had to do things for their gods, to propitiate them and sacrifice to them, and bring them all kinds of things. God is not looking for anything from man. 1 Samuel 15:22 says, “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams.”

God desires our heart and a sincere relationship with Him.
