The Man Who Was Always Singing…

Today's Daily Devotion - April 30 2022

By Dr. George Ceremuga

“I love you, O Lord, my strength.”
The Lord lives and blessed be my rock;
and exalted by the God of my salvation.
- Psalm 18:46

The book of Psalms is the longest book in the Bible, and do you know they are meant to be sung? David, a man over God’s own heart sang many of his prayers to the Lord. A psalm is a sacred hymn or song and I believe music is a powerful art form. St. Augustine said, “When you sing, you pray twice.” Come on now, everybody sings in the shower! Use the voice God gave you to praise the Creator of heaven and earth!

We might as well start learning how to praise God now as the major part of eternity will be praising God! David didn’t just know about God; he knew God as his own God. David wrote Psalm 18 and sang it to the Lord “in the day that the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.” To be people of praise, we must express in song our gratitude to God for His salvation. We can all express our feelings exuberantly making a joyful noise unto the Lord!

Read the Psalms over and over…it is no accident that it is the longest book in the Bible. And the amazing health benefits of singing for our brain, heart, happiness, immune system—all for the glory of God!

Blest the Lord, O my soul… Psalm 103
