The Master of Time

And I know that whatever God does is final. Nothing can be added to it or taken from it. God’s purpose is that people should fear him. — Ecclesiastes 3:14 NLT
Ecclesiastes 3 includes a poetry describing different seasons and facets of life. There are good things in life, and at the same time, there are bad things in life that are inevitable. Still, the author reminds us that God made everything beautiful in its time. To everything, there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven (v. 1).
Knowing that God is the creator of everything and the master of time, we can always find hope. Michael Eaton’s commentary says, “God’s actions are permanent, God’s actions are effective and complete, God’s actions are totally secure.” Whatever is has already been, and what will be has been before; and God will call the past to account (v. 15). May the knowledge and truth that God is above all and not even bound by time and place gives us secure hope and increases our trust. Instead of being afraid because we don’t know what will happen tomorrow, let us replace it with worship and reverent fear for our Almighty God.
Our God is an eternal God.
