Read John 16:1-15
We receive the Holy Spirit by believing in Christ Jesus. Peter said, “Repent, and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus the Messiah for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38). Paul also says that when we put our faith in Christ, we are no longer in the flesh but in the Spirit. The Holy Spirit dwells in us and anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to Christ (Romans 8:9).
The Holy Spirit is not a thing, not an energy, not a feeling, not an air. The Holy Spirit is God, a person equal in power, attributes, and nature as God and Jesus Christ, hence worthy of the same worship. Before Jesus Christ left the disciples, He promised them that when He goes away, He will send the Helper to them. In John 8-11 of ERV, Jesus says, “When the Helper comes, he will show the people of the world how wrong they are about sin, about being right with God, and about judgment. He will prove that they are guilty of sin, because they don’t believe in me. He will show them how wrong they are about how to be right with God.”
This promises of Jesus remain true until the present. As we believe in Jesus, He will send the Holy Spirit to dwell on us because He knows we will face trials and temptations. He doesn’t want us to lose our faith. Acknowledge and be sensitive to the Holy Spirit in you. Next time you will choose to do what is good versus what is evil, don’t say it’s because of your mere conscience. You made the choice pleasing to God because of the leading of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit will lead us into all truth.
