The True Gospel

Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. - Galatians 1:10

Read: Galatians 1:1-10

Thanksgiving, grace, and peace are common elements in Paul’s greetings in his epistles. In his epistle to the Galatians, however, this is not the case. False instructors cause strife within their congregations. Paul gives many arguments for them to return to the fundamental truth of the gospel.

Opponents say that Paul offers a gospel that was got from man rather than from God. They also claim he prefers to please men over God. Paul doesn’t just defend himself; he also expresses pastoral concern. The Galatians should know that the message they received was genuine. He reminded them of the true gospel: Jesus Christ is the substitutionary atonement for all Christians, ushering them into a new state of freedom and life. The gospel of Jesus comes from God alone, not from man. It produces holiness and transformation. Faith, which leads to justification, is what saves us, not our works.

There are many who will purposefully distort the truth about Christ. Jesus Christ’s opponents have a variety of views about the validity of His resurrection. Our job as Christ’s servants is to spread the true Gospel. “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons” (Galatians 4:4–5).

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the receipt of His payment for our sins.
