The Two Shall Become One Flesh

When a man and a woman unite in marriage, two things happen at the same time. First, the man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife. Secondly, the two of them become one body. This twofold act of leaving behind something good for the sake of something even better creates a new family. In essence, you combine the good experiences, gifts, and talents from each person and offer this new life to your family.

Similarly, Jesus united himself to our humanity in an intense and intimate way and created the Church. By offering himself on the cross, redemption was offered to all as he poured out his love for humanity. Thank you, Jesus, for my redemption!
