The Work of the Cross

The work of the cross not only brings redemption when we believe it with all our hearts, but it also provides triumph over our old sin nature. We must understand that our sin nature remains with us until the end of our earthly lives. But we can still live victoriously while we are alive because the blood of Christ has given us victory over the sin nature’s working power in our lives.

We died with Christ when He died to sin. We died unto sin. No wonder Paul said, “Our old way of life was nailed to the cross with Christ, a decisive end to that sin-miserable life—no longer captive to sin’s demands! What we believe is this: If we get included in Christ’s sin-conquering death, we also get included in his life-saving resurrection (Romans 6:6-11).”

We have a new life in Christ. The old has gone and new the has come. Our old sin nature has no control over us. So let us not cling to our old lives and instead accept the new life Jesus has given us.
