Through Jesus Christ

God’s grace was obtained through Jesus Christ, who was born as a son of David and risen as the Son of God in authority. In the New International Version, it says, “Through him we received grace and apostleship to call all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith for his name’s sake.” Grace is a reality that comes from God and is made possible by Jesus’ work for us. For sinners like us, it is a privilege. It was obtained for us by Jesus. We have it because of our Lord Jesus Christ’s obedience and death. There is no grace for us apart from His life, death, and resurrection.

So, how should we live in the light of this grace? God provides gifts of grace so that we will be his instruments in bringing about “the obedience of faith.” God wants to be the spring and the source of our service and our obedience and our ministry. He is the source of our strength and power as we fulfill our mission on earth—bringing glory to God. Grace is what makes obedience possible. It’s time to get down to business in furthering God’s kingdom. Jesus said, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).”
