Times of Testing
Today's Daily Devotion - July 30, 2021

You, O God, have tested us; You have refined us as silver is refined. You brought us into the net; You laid affliction on our backs. . . . We went through fire and through water; But You brought us out to rich fulfillment. - Psalm 66:10–12
A blacksmith’s basic tools include hammer, anvils, and thongs. They position the metal on an anvil using a thong, then shape and mold it with a hammer. The blacksmith will continue pounding using different techniques until they achieve the desired outcome.
We are like a metal placed on top of an anvil for reshaping and remolding until we become the person God wants us to be. Every pound of hammer on us will be painful. It will never be comfortable. It is not preventable.
The reshaping, remolding, and refining season serves as a reminder of who we are and who God is. Our prayer during this season is not to ask God to take us away from it, but to strengthen us and be with us through it. Do not complain. Instead, be grateful if God puts you on his anvil. It shows he still believes you’re worth molding. What God has started in you, He will put it into completion.
A skillful blacksmith maintains the condition of his tools. God feels the same way.
