Trust God With a Firm and Confident Heart

He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD. -Psalm 112:7, ESV

Read Psalm 112

We don’t want to hear bad news, yet it’s unavoidable. In less than a week, my daughter and I experienced plenty of unwelcome events. I went to an orthopedic seeking help with my left shoulder ache. According to the x-ray results, I don’t have any fractures or dislocations in my left shoulder, but it surprised me to know I have scoliosis. We went to an emergency facility the next day due to an animal bite. During a dogfight, one of our pets bit my daughter. I returned to another emergency clinic a day later after being bitten by our puppy too while attempting to stop their fight. Going back and forth to the hospital has been exhausting this week. Health concerns or accidents are not anything anyone desires. None wants all those horrible things to happen, especially barely a day apart.

Whatever tomorrow brings, we can trust God because He is all knowing and all-powerful. He knows the past, the present, and the future. We will face a lot of uncertainties, but amidst all that, our God remains the same. He is unchanging. Bad news does not change God nor intimidate Him. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God (Psalm 20:7, NIV). We can trust God with a firm and confident heart because of His character and not the circumstance. When we put our faith in God, we shall discover peace and joy even in the midst of our difficulties. When we put our faith in Him, He can give us the strength and stability we need to confront whatever comes our way.
