Trust, No Matter What

For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. —Habakkuk 2:14
The first two chapters of Habakkuk are about the prophet’s complaints to the Lord and the Lord’s responses. Judah’s gradual moral and spiritual collapse gravely worried Habakkuk. But God’s response perplexed him much more when God said he will punish Judah, a less wicked nation, by using Babylon, a more wicked nation.
When was the last time you asked God, “Why, Lord?” Most of the time, our own understanding cannot comprehend God’s ways. God’s responses, like Habakkuk’s, frequently bewilder us. I believe that trusting God and His plans, and believing that His intentions are good, pleasing, and perfect, is the key to this. Many of us may have had doubts about God’s role in the Covid-19 pandemic. The pandemic may have taken away time, professional prospects, peace, and, most importantly, the lives of those we care about. Despite the darkness it has brought upon us, it has not extinguished the light of Jesus Christ. God’s Word continued to spread and be heard despite the pandemic.
God has the power to transform evil into good. All we have to do is trust, regardless of the circumstances. No matter how chaotic our exterior circumstances get, we may and must believe in God’s love and mercy for us.
Lord, help me trust you.
