What a Friend We Have in Jesus!

February 13, 2022 Daily Devotion
By Dr. George Ceremuga

Therefore, he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. - Hebrews 7:25

During the reign of King Saul, he became jealous of David and wanted him killed. Saul’s son Jonathan “interceded” on David’s behalf. “Let not your majesty sin against his servant David, for he has committed no offense against you, but has helped you very much by his deeds” (1 Samuel 19:4). Saul heeded Jonathan’s plea and swore, “As the Lord lives, he shall not be killed” (1 Samuel 19:6). What a friend David had in Jonathan!

We, too, have such a friend. His name is Jesus who constantly intercedes for us in heaven. Christ Jesus, who died or rather was raised up, who is at the right hand of God and who intercedes for us (Romans 8:34). Jesus never takes a day off or becomes weary in appealing to God’s unfailing love for us. Jesus is sitting at that right hand of the Father advocating for an outpouring of peace and grace in our lives. On our best or worst days, Jesus is merciful and always faithful and interceding for you. Thank you, Jesus!

Jesus, I need, trust, and love you!
