Whenever We Pray

Talk is cheap, like daydreams and other useless activities. Fear God instead. — Ecclesiastes 5:7 NLT
Have you ever found yourself automatically babbling the same thing or saying the same words in prayer without even thinking about what you’re saying to God? To be honest, sometimes I catch myself saying familiar phrases that sound more like mindless filler than thoughtful, intimate time with God.
The first part of Ecclesiastes 5 instructs us not to be hasty with our words, because God is in heaven and we are on earth, so let our words be few (Ecclesiastes 2). Solomon described our natural propensity to speak without thinking in front of God and others. Even during our personal prayer time, our own concerns can sometimes preoccupy our mind rather than with the worship of God. God is a holy God who deserves our reverence and adoration. He wants our hearts and minds fixed on Him with the utmost respect and honor whenever we pray. Let us thank the Lord by praising and worshiping God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit!
Lord, may my prayer be set before you like incense.
