Where Do We Look for Discernment?

The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 1 Corinthians 2:14
Why is discernment so important in the Christian life? Every day, we have to make a lot of decisions. According to one study, we make 35,000 remotely conscious decisions every day. An article also states that two out of every five people experience stress and anxiety when faced with a decision, with many feeling physically ill. Because there are so many distractions in the world, discernment is more important than ever to protect against false teaching and to walk the path of holiness.
But where do we look for discernment? The first step is to pray to God for wisdom. James 1:5 promises, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” Then we must nourish ourselves with God’s Word. Psalms says, “Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are my constant guide (Psalm 119:98).” Finally, have fellowship with wise people because they seek God’s wisdom.
God’s wisdom is for everyone. Ask and you shall receive.
