Imagine the impact the 72 disciples made as they fanned out through the regions of Galilee and Samaria. Thousands of people up and down the Jordan Valley were hearing the good news of salvation. The mercy of God flowed freely as many were healed and delivered from the grip of demons. The disciples returned with joy and jubilation. I would be excited, too!

Jesus rewarded their efforts and reinforced His healing power by saying to them, “I have observed Satan fall like lightning from the sky. Behold, I have given you the power to tread upon serpents and scorpions and upon the full force of the enemy and nothing will harm you. He also reminded them that the goal of their faith was not driving out demons and healing the sick, but the salvation of souls (V18-20).
