You Are All I Really Want In Life

Then I pray to you, O Lord. I say, “You are my place of refuge. You are all I really want in life.”
Psalms 142:5 NLT
Read Psalm 142
“Lord, You are all I really want in life.”
Have you ever said this to God? Are you convinced that God is all you really want in life?
Psalm 142 is a contemplation of David. He called this prayer Maskil, ‘a Psalm of instruction,’ because of the life lessons he learned while hiding in the cave as he sought refuge from King Saul. David desired to share what he learned with others.
David had no refuge in men. He learned God is his only refuge that’s why he can confidently cry out to God. David found his place of refuge not in a place or in a particular circumstance, but in the LORD Himself. Many times in David’s seasons as a fugitive, he had reason to believe that all his inheritance in this world was gone. In such times, he had the confidence that God Himself was he really wanted in life.
We have a lot of desires in life. Let us put God first on top of all of them.
Lord, help me want more of you.
