Bought Back for Nothing

Today’s Daily Devotion – March 9, 2021

By Khai Samante

You were sold for nothing, and without money you will be redeemed. – Isaiah 52:3

Read 1 Peter 1:13-25

Jerusalem went after other gods like someone is selling themselves for nothing. But God who is full of mercy still blessed them by being redeemed without money. Until the present day, we are still selling ourselves for nothing. We are chasing on the wrong things—money, career, fame, selfish ambitions—that if compared to eternity, worth nothing.

The meaning of life is not about what we have attained. It is about what Jesus did for us. God already redeemed us without asking us to paying anything for it. We are not the one who paid the cost of our sins. Jesus Christ paid the significant cost of God’s redemption. 1 Peter 1:18-20 MSG says, “It cost God plenty to get you out of that dead-end, empty-headed life you grew up in. He paid with Christ’s sacred blood, you know. He died like an unblemished, sacrificial lamb. And this was no afterthought. Even though it has only lately—at the end of the ages—become public knowledge, God always knew he was going to do this for you.”

We are already saved. We are now made new. Are we still going to choose to live the same life as before?

We are purchased with the precious blood of Jesus Christ.
