By Khai Samante

Saul of Tarsus was a well-known Christian executioner. He went for Jesus’ followers, tortured them, and even executed some of them. While on his way to Damascus to find and imprison followers of Jesus, a light from heaven flashed around him and he fell to the ground. A voice asked him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” This was Saul’s first personal encounter with Jesus. When Saul stood up, he opened his eyes and saw nothing.

Then God sent a man named Ananias to plead for Saul and restore his sight. Ananias was initially hesitant because the name “Saul of Tarsus” was not unfamiliar to him. He’d heard stories about Saul, the damage he’d done to the believers in Jerusalem, and his intentions to Damascus. But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go!” So Ananias went and assisted Saul in his transition as he decided to commit his life to Jesus. To cut the long story short, Saul’s name was changed to that of the beloved apostle Paul, who wrote fourteen books of the Bible.

Are you willing to be an Ananias? Are you willing to obey God when He says, “Go!” Are you willing to fellowship with a new believer and guide in their Christian walk?

And Ananias went his way and entered the house; and laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
