God’s Providence Reigns Supreme

By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.

John 13:35

According to the “Little Blue Book” Advent and Christmas Seasons 2023-2024, Ein Karem is considered by many to have been the birthplace of St. John the Baptist. During the Middle Ages, the village became known as “St. John in the Mountains.” The name Ein Karem means “Vineyard Spring,” named after the spring which flows through the heart of the village. Crusaders dubbed this spring, “the Spring of the Virgin Mary.” It was thought that this spring was near the home of Zechariah and Elizabeth where Mary visited.

On my recent 50-day “Pentecost” in the Holy Land, I visited “the Spring of the Virgin Mary” twice. This spring with its refreshing and cool water flows abundantly from its underground source. It was here that I was blessed to be a witness to God’s love to an unbeliever- a Godcident. Then, as only God “willed” to arrange, we “ran into each other” in Nazareth two weeks later and 90 miles away. The first thing this person said to me- “ I bet you are going to call this a “Godcident” too. My smile was all the confirmation needed.

God always brings people together for his glory
