He is Always Present - Daily Devotion

…even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. — Psalm 139:12

Bible Reading – Psalm 139:1-18

One of the enemy’s lies is that we can only come to God once we’ve fixed our lives. We assumed that because God is so holy, he would ignore a broken person. Because of our shame, we don’t want to face God. As a result, rather than yielding our shortcomings to Him, we strive to fix our lives on our own strength. Before accepting him into our lives, we seek to patch up our brokenness with temporary band-aids.

David considered in Psalm 139 the truth that God is present everywhere and that no corner or dimension of the universe is concealed from Him. God is everywhere; heaven isn’t too high and hell isn’t too low.

We can never escape God’s knowledge. God sees our garbage, no matter how hard we try to bury it in the deepest recesses of our hearts. He is always present to lead and hold us wherever we are in the universe, whether in the light or in the dark. He is not after punishing us. His desire is for us to experience His love for us. His hand will guide us, and His right hand will hold us fast. While we were in a “dark room,” referring to our mother’s womb, the Lord fearfully and wonderfully created us. God is the one who knitted us together and actively formed us.

God loves us. Nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38-39 NLT). Always remember to call out to God if you find yourself in a dark place today. He’s aware of your situation. Trust that He will lead you and offer clarity to your situation.

In the dark and in the light, Jesus is with us.
