Pouring On Oil and Wine

Today’s Daily Devotion – July 28, 2022

By Khai Samante

So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine… — Luke 10:34

Read Luke 10:25-37

A man was walking from Jerusalem to Jericho when he came across thieves. They took his clothes, beat him up, and left him half-dead. A priest and a Levite religious man were passing through the same path when they noticed the injured man but avoided him.

A passing Samaritan noticed the man and approached him. The man’s sufferings moved him. He provided first aid by disinfecting his wounds with oil and wine and bandaging them. He then took him to an inn and made him feel at ease.
When our trials wound and beat us down, and no one is coming to help us, remember that we have Jesus, our Good Shepherd. He understands we require the anointing to heal the wounds inflicted by the enemy on our souls. Jesus knows we require emotional relief from heartbreak, spiritual relief from oppression, and physical relief from illness. We can always turn to Jesus for help. He longs to embrace us and pour out healing oil, wine of life, and God’s love for us!
