Acts 16:25 Daily Devotion - May 16 2023

Pray and Sing Hymns to God

Today’s Daily Devotion

May 16, 2023

By Khai Samante

Paul and Silas were in prison for preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. They had been beaten and thrown into the inner dungeon with their feet fastened in stocks. They had every reason to complain, to despair, or to be angry with God. But instead of doing any of those things, they chose to pray and sing praises to God.

Why did they do that? Because Paul and Silas knew that God was with them, that He had a purpose for their suffering, and that He would deliver them in His time and way. They also knew that their joy was not based on their circumstances, but on their relationship with Jesus Christ, who had died for their sins and risen from the dead. They had a hope that nothing could take away from them.

How about you? Do you have the same hope as Paul and Silas? Do you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? If you do, then you can also be filled with joy and sing praises to God despite the difficulties in life. Because Jesus Christ is your hope, your strength, and your salvation, you can pray and sing hymns to God, whatever your circumstance is.

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.
Acts 16:25

Turn to Jesus Christ today and receive His forgiveness, His grace, and His gift of eternal life.
