Thanksgiving - Daily Devotion

Sing and make music to the Lord in your hearts, always thanking God the Father for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. — Ephesians 5:19-20

Each year we observe Thanksgiving in the United States, a holiday that arose from 1621 when Plymouth colonists and Native Americans shared an autumn harvest feast. Although the Thanksgiving holiday is relatively new compared to Christian history, giving thanks to God is a tradition that dates to the Old Testament. Take time this Thanksgiving to give thanks to God as our loving Creator, Savior, and Lord Almighty!

Celebrate this American holiday with thanksgiving to our eternal King, with songs of praise and gratitude. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God (Colossians 3:16). And what better song to sing thanks and praise to our Lord, Jesus Christ than “Amazing Grace.”

That saved a wretch like me!

I once was lost, but now am found;

Was blind, but now I see.

Through many dangers, toils and snares,

I have already come;

’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,

And grace will lead me home.

Thanks be to God!
