When We Face Adversity

Today’s Daily Devotion – October 19 2022

By Khai Samante

He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.” — Daniel 3:25

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego would not compromise their loyalty to God by bowing to an image created to glorify someone else as a god. They were prepared to accept the results of their choice. In a fit of rage, the king Nebuchadnezzar ordered that they be thrown into a fire so hot that the soldiers who threw them in perished.

If we give it some thought, the three men should have passed away right away. But what transpired astounded everyone who witnessed them in the blazing furnace, particularly the king. The three were released from their bindings after encountering a bodily representation of God while in the flaming furnace. God protected them because He was with them. God’s presence and protection completely covered them. The incident provided the king, the satraps, and other royal advisors with the chance to see how God saved Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Many people will come to know and acknowledge God when we face adversity and trust Him to deliver us.

What are you willing to sacrifice in order to honor God, even in the face of adversity?

God will be with me through the fire in times of adversity.
