You have been told what the Lord requires of you

To do the right and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with your God. — Micah 6:8

Micah told the Israelites what God had called them to do, they just were not doing it. We know that Jesus values mercy over sacrifice. Yes, unmerited forgiveness for one another. And when we forgive, we are set free and able to live fully alive in mind, body, and spirit all for the glory of God. The Ninevites had far less reason to turn to the Lord, but what little understanding they had was enough to spark citywide repentance and God showered them with mercy and saved their city.

One of the most common reasons unbelievers give for not embracing Christianity is the behavior of Christians themselves. G.K. Chesterton once observed: “The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting. It has been found difficult and left untried.” So, what are we to do? Talk to Jesus, my guiding light is a good start. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts, words, and actions to do the right, love goodness and walk humbly with your God.
