Jesus Christ: The American Icon!

The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Matthew 10:7

Today we are going to discuss “The American Icon”: Jesus Christ! In chapter 10 of Mathew’s gospel, Jesus said to his Apostles, “As you go, make this proclamation: ‘The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, drive out demons. Without cost you have received, without cost you are to give.”

Jesus sends out his twelve apostles to pay homage to the weak, sick, downcast, and vulnerable to offer them healing, love, and freedom thus ushering in the new Kingdom of God. Today, Jesus is still sending out his servants who proclaim the same kingdom and offer the same grace and power that flow from Christ himself. In Jesus, we all find mercy, healing, and forgiveness.
