A Father’s Blessing
Blessed is the man who fears the Lord; his offspring will be mighty.
Psalm 112:1-4
William R. Hamant wrote Family, Become What You Are in the August 2024 edition of The Magnificat: Family, become what you are urged Pope John Paul II, numerous times in his writings. And what is family? In the words of my daughter, it is something amazing: a communion of love called by God to manifest the very love that he himself is: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The family is not this in the abstract, but in my concrete family, and in yours.
No wonder that we sometimes don’t live up to this, because, as John Paul taught, it must become, together. The task of a father is precisely this: to safeguard the family as the place in which my wife and children are affirmed as loved for their own sake, in which they can become what they are: AMAZING!
Thank you, Jesus, for my amazing family!
