Humbly welcome the word that has been planted in you and is able to save your souls.

James 1:21

In James chapter 1, he calls his audience to care for all who experience needs due to social inequity. James equates actions that care for those in need with true religion. “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their affliction and to keep oneself unstained by the world” (V.27).

James encourages us to “humbly welcome the word that has been planted in you and is able to save your souls. Be doers of the word and not hearers only, deluding yourselves” (V.21-22). Follow the example of Jesus’ humility, love, and forgiveness. Immerse yourself in the inspired word of God. Be the person that you want to meet. Always be kind.
