Run to Win

Although I am free in regard to all, I have made myself a slave to all so as to win over as many as possible.

1 Corinthians 9:19

The apostle Paul was certainly a zealot for Christ upon his conversion on the road to Damascus. He was on fire for the Holy Spirit and took great pride in cultivating meaningful and lasting relationships. He shared stories about his own experiences of Jesus, and he listened to their stories. It was apparent that he deeply loved his friends and that they loved him as well. An in the end, it was love that brought them to Christ.

Jesus gave us mission, the “Great Commission” as we are all called to be like the apostle Paul and John the Baptism—to prepare the way! At a recent mass, Fr. Mark said we are all missionary disciples learning to be more like Jesus every day. “No disciple is superior to the teacher; but when fully trained, every disciple will be like his teacher” (Luke 6:40). Aim high as our goal is to become like the great Rabbi and teacher—Jesus Christ!
