And Then All Israel Will Be Saved!

Today’s Daily Devotion

By Dr. George J. Ceremuga

God gave the Israelites a spirit of stupor; blind eyes and deaf ears, and it is so to this day (V.8). I further ask, does their stumbling mean that they are forever fallen? Not at all (V.11)! The unbelief of Israel has paved the way for the preaching of the gospel to the Gentiles and for their easier acceptance of it outside of Jewish culture.

Blindness has come upon part of Israel until the full number of Gentiles enter in, and then all Israel will be saved.
Romans 11:25

In God’s design it should follow that Israel’s ultimate acceptance of the gospel message will benefit the world even more than its original unbelief.

The apostle Paul sums up Israel’s final conversion through the triumph of God’s mercy. “Out of Zion will come the deliver who shall remove all impiety from Jacob; and this is the covenant I will make with them when I take away their sins. In respect to the gospel, the Jews are enemies of God for your sake; in respect to the election, they are beloved by him because of the patriarchs. God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable (VV. 26-29).

This has been God’s plan all along. Israel’s unbelief is being utilized to grant the light of faith to the Gentiles. Meanwhile, Israel remains dear to God, still the object of his special providence, the mystery of which will one day be revealed.

God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable!
