It’s Okay to Ask for Help

Today’s Daily Devotion

September 10, 2023

By Dr. George J. Ceremuga

As a homeowner, there is always something to fix. I have been procrastinating in repairing the leaky outdoor faucet. Motivation locked in, I first watched a youtube video on how to repair this issue. It seemed straightforward until it wasn’t. I was unable to dislodge and remove the long stem from the faucet. The last thing I wanted to do was to break it off inside the wall of the house.

Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatsoever you do, do all for the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31

So, a quick consultation with the Holy Spirit and I made a call to the plumber. I felt this would be a “Holy Moment.”

A few days later, my plumber and his apprentice arrived mid-afternoon.  I greeted them in the driveway, and we walked around the house to the leaky faucet. The plumber is no more than 30 years old, and his apprentice is 17. I explained what I tried, and the young plumber processed all this information. We prayed over the faucet and asked Jesus to assist in the repair. He finally was able to dislodge the long stem by using a blow torch. The repair then was straightforward. I gave each young man a signed copy of “God Loves the Children”, and we had an opportunity to glorify God in our daily work. For all of us this would be a memorable moment and a fitting tribute to the end of the day.

I am sure glad I made the phone call.
