Focus On Our Future In Him

Today’s Daily Devotion – November 28 2022

By Khai Samante

So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. — Isaiah 55:11

I recall that one morning on my way to work, tears welled up in my eyes due to envy and regrets. I envied my friends’ success and compared mine to theirs. Thoughts and realizations about past decisions rushed through my mind. “If only I had accepted the offer my boss made me, I would already have my car.” “If only I had a better job and a higher salary.” If only, if only, if only…

We’ve all done things in the past that we’re not proud of, or made decisions that resulted in painful consequences and disappointments. But Jesus wants us to focus on our future in Him rather than on our failures. “Jesus can redeem your worst moment, so you don’t have to live in regret!” says Pastor John Gray. God can transform our failure into the resurrection of His destiny for us. In God’s Kingdom, there are no accidents. What a relief to know that the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22–23). Jesus is the Lord of second chances. We have a sure hope in Him. He will receive and welcome us with His warm embrace if we come to Him in humility and repentance.

Our past mistakes will never determine the future God has planned for us. He is faithful and we can start again in Him. We must not let our regrets keep us from fulfilling God’s divine purpose for us. His word will not be returned void. It will achieve what God desires and serve the purpose for which it was sent.

Help me, Lord, to be faithful and to follow you.
