Getting To Know God Better In the Valleys

Today’s Daily Devotion – October 17 2022

By Khai Samante

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. — Psalm 23:4

We are extremely aware of the ups and downs that life entails. But of course, the majority of us would like to choose and remain in the life’s hills rather than its valleys. May we have the same faith and assurance as the psalmist in our passage today. He says that even though we are in the deepest valley, we need not be afraid, for God is with us; His rod and His staff will sustain us. No matter what we are facing, let’s not lose sight of the fact that God is with us in the hills and the valleys. Our circumstances will never limit our big God.

Our difficulties serve as a vehicle for God to reveal His mighty power and boundless potential. Every time we experience a valley, may we see things from a fresh angle. Let’s not place restrictions on God; rather, let’s trust and obey God, even when life is at its darkest. Let’s not be afraid of challenges and difficulties; rather, let’s consider them as the ideal setting and time for getting to know God better while expecting to witness His strength. We shall witness God’s power when we face difficulties in life if we do not confine Him to the hills and do not forget to trust Him in the valleys.

Through the hills and the valleys, God is with us. Do not fear.
