God’s Ways Are Not Our Ways

When the time is right declares the Lord, I will make it happen.

Isaiah 60:22

Recently I had lunch with the new director of Catholic Social Services. This young man is on fire for the Lord. I attended his open house a few months ago and met his family. We enjoyed a delightful lunch together as we shared our passion for Christ and serving one another. He said, “it was a pleasure learning more about your endeavors. Prayers coming your way.”

He then shared this short quote from St. John Mary Vianney: “We must abandon ourselves to God’s Providence and take care not to run on ahead of it. The works of God achieve themselves and those that are not His soon perish. Rest assured of the truth of a saying that seems paradoxical, that he who hurries delays the things of God.” This was timely advice which reminded me- it is all about Jesus.
