If You Want To Be Like Jesus…

Go and do likewise.

Luke 10:37

Father Zach at the Holy Spirit Parish in Sioux Falls reminded us at mass if you want to be like Jesus, attend mass. The gospel reading from Luke chapter 10 was the Parable of the Good Samaritan where Jesus teaches us to be like him and show mercy and compassion regardless of race, religion, or social status just like the Good Samaritan. The Good Samaritan showed love and mercy to an injured man where the Priest and the Levite left the man for dead.

The lawyer in this parable also asked Jesus, “What must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus puts the question back to the lawyer who answers it correctly, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” And Jesus reminds us that the Good Samaritan was the neighbor who showed mercy on him. Let us go and do the same!
