Listen, Obedience, and Love

But bestowing mercy down to the thousandth generation, on the children of those who love me and keep my commandments.

Exodus 20:6

In Exodus Chapter 20, God gives us His commandments to set us free and to set us up for success. Love God and follow his commandments as we will be His people and He will be our God. This is a wonderful love story of a proud Father watching over his flock.

As mentioned in yesterday’s devotion, God has a wonderful plan for us to prosper and give us hope and a future. He only asks us to obey.

David Wilkerson said, “When God calls you to something, He is not always calling you to succeed. He’s calling you to obey. The success of the calling is up to Him, the obedience is up to you. Every time we obey God, we imitate the life of Jesus, his son. Our motivation for obedience is love. If you love me, you will keep my commandments (John 14:15).
