Listen to Him…

Today’s Daily Devotion

By Dr. George Ceremuga

At mass recently, Father Ed discussed the Transfiguration. The apostles present: Peter, James and John wanted to share in the glory without doing the hard work. What the apostles did not know was the Jesus, Elijah, and Moses were talking about His passion and death. As Peter was speaking to Jesus, a bright cloud cast a shadow over them , then from the cloud a voice that said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him.”

The Apostles fell prostate in fear. Jesus touched them and instructed them to rise and do not be afraid. When they raised their eyes, they alone saw Jesus, who instructed them not to tell the vision to anyone until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead (Mathew 17:1-9).

2 Peter 1:16-18, echoes the same message: at the Transfiguration God assigns to Jesus a special “honor and glory” and it is the turning point at which God exalts Jesus above all other powers in creation, and positions Him as ruler and judge.

Beloved: Bear your share of hardship for the gospel with the strength that comes from God.
2 Timothy 1:8

Praise and honor to you, Lord Jesus Christ!
