Today’s Daily Devotion

By Dr. George J. Ceremuga

Caught in the middle of high winds and rough seas, at the word of Jesus, Peter begins to walk on the water. When we become scared, due to strong winds, at this point our faith weakness and we begin to doubt and sink. At this point, Peter called Jesus for help. Jesus immediately stretched out his hand to help him.

Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.
Matthew 14:28

Do we call on Jesus when we begin to sink and feel helpless? Remember, Jesus never hesitates to help us when we call upon him. He is standing by in anticipation to give us a helping hand.

Every one of us will, at some time, be faced with very trying circumstances, difficult decisions, suffer great sorrow and loss and experience great temptations. We are called many times to “walk on water.” This is when we must rely on the words of Jesus Christ. “Take courage it is I; do not be afraid” (V.27).

Truly, you are the Son of God!
