Much More Than A Lenten Fish Fry

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

John 14:26

As a member of the Knights of Columbus in Rapid City, I have not assisted with many functions in the last year. So when I received an email to help with a Friday Lenten fish fry and Stations of the Cross, the Holy Spirit convicted me to attend. So, I said yes. I introduced myself to the men preparing food in the kitchen and was soon paired up with a young man assigned to make coleslaw for 300 people. We quickly gathered the cabbage, mayonnaise, sugar, lemon juice, raw apple cider vinegar, salt, and pepper.

We both agreed to use the largest bowl to mix the ingredients. He was the mixer and I loaded the bowl with all the ingredients. In that “holy hour” to make the coleslaw, God gave me an opportunity to witness to this young man to receive Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. This son of the Most High Jesus Christ was at a critical moment on his salvation journey. I should have known that the Holy Spirit’s prompt to serve was more than making coleslaw. I was even able to attend most of the Stations of the Cross as an adding blessing.

Always say yes to the Holy Spirit!
