Proverbs 16:3 (ESV) Daily Devotion Scripture

“Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be established.” — Proverbs 16:3 (ESV)

What does it mean to commit our work to the Lord? The Message Version says, “Put God in charge of your work, then what you’ve planned will take place.” This means to entrust everything we do to God, and when we do so, our plans will succeed.

We depend on ourselves a lot of times. We depend on our abilities, career, finances, connections, and so on to be successful. But this is not how it works in the economy of God. He wants us to trust in Him rather than to rely solely on ourselves. How easy it is to trust God? If trusting a person is not that easy, what more trusting God whom we cannot touch or see?

It can really be a challenge to trust God, especially if, as humans, our natural tendency is to lean on ourselves. That’s why it is important to know God not only through what the Bible says, but also on an intimate level. Knowing God, His desires, promises, and plans for us can give us the confidence to trust that He is good and that He will never leave us nor forsake us. As we decide to entrust our plans to God, let us also make an effort to know Him deeper. As we seek Him, our plans align with His will for us.

Whatever your job is, you can trust God and your plans will succeed.
