Daniel 13:53 Daily Devotion - May 11 2023

The Innocent and The Just You Shall Not Put To Death

Today’s Daily Devotion

By Dr. George J. Ceremuga

Just when it looked very bleak for Susanna, Daniel comes to the rescue. We have God to thank for Daniel’s courage. As Susanna was being led to execution falsely accused, Daniel boldly proclaims her innocence and proves it. He divides the two old men and catches them both in lies. He tells both men, “Your fine lie has cost you your head, for the angel of God shall receive the sentence from him and split you in two” (V13:55)

God sent Daniel, a man of integrity and justice. Scripture tells us, “God does not see as a mortal, who sees the appearance. The Lord looks into the heart” (I Samuel 16:7). That is exactly what Daniel exposed: the deceitful, selfish hearts of these judges. And remember, all we need to fix the world is to love one another. Look at each other as made in the image of Jesus as we look into each other’s heart- the Sacred Heart of Jesus! Mother Teresa boldly exclaims, when you judge, you leave no room for love.
