The Sacred Path

Today’s Daily Devotion

September 17, 2023

By Dr. George J. Ceremuga

It was on the Passion of St John the Baptist that we discussed the importance of preparing the way for our Lord at “Each day is a new beginning” prison ministry. Initially only four men came into the room. Then, through Holy Spirit power, the gates opened, and the men poured into our group session yielding one of our largest gatherings.

I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
Matthew 3:11

We discussed the price one pays for following Jesus Christ. Eleven of the Twelve Disciples of Jesus were martyred and his cousin, John beheaded. Many early Christians were jailed and executed. We emphasized as men the role we have in our families to prepare the way for our families to meet Jesus Christ. The greatest gift we can give our families and loved ones is to walk with them on the sacred path-the path to salvation.

The only path!
