The Significance of Patience

Today’s Daily Devotion – December 3 2022

By Khai Samante

By your patience possess your souls. — Luke 21:19 NKJV

I admit I am impatient. Sometimes I am not even aware that I am becoming impatient. What is the significance of patience?

“Patience is the possession of the soul, enabling the will to keep the soul in peace, and to regulate its actions and desires by the light of truth and justice, with a constant view to its final end. Impatience is the beginning of every movement that takes the soul away from God, and so from its self-possession.” ― William Bernard Ullathorne, Patience and Humility.

An impatient person’s soul is out of control. As a result, his life feels out of control as well. God desires to instill patience in us in order to slow us down. We have a tendency to rush things into our lives, even major decisions, in a fast-paced world. God desires to show how to put our trust in him. He teaches us to walk in his ways and trust in him step by step. Patience allows us to keep waiting on God with faith.

Believe that God has plans for us.
