The Talent Parable

Come share your master’s joy.

Matthew 25:23

In chapter 25 of Mathew’s gospel, Jesus shares the talent parable. In the August 2024 Magnificat, we read that the talents are coins that belong to the master, which grow in value when they are freely received and invested. These are not the personal talents, skills, or abilities that we are born with, but something extraordinary added to our life out of the mercy of the Master.

He hands them over to the servants in order “to choose the weak of the world, the lowly and despised. “The talents are the grace of Jesus Christ, given to us the Father for our salvation. It brings God great joy for us to use these extraordinary talents to know, love, and serve Him.
