Psalm 33:21-22 Daily Devotion

The Waiting Season

Today’s Daily Devotion

By Khai Samante

What is the ETA? This is something I always check whenever I order online or use GPS navigation apps when travelling. I want to know the estimated time of arrival to set my expectation of how long I will have to wait. I would admit I am not patient most of the time.

Because we place a high value on time, we dislike waiting. It actually becomes more difficult for us as we wait longer. We begin to feel anxious and stressed because of the sense of waste and uncertainty that comes with waiting. Well, one aspect of the waiting game is the fear that even after all of our efforts, we will not receive what we desired.

Even if we don’t know what the future holds for us, we can have faith in God in every waiting season of our lives. Why? Because He is the alpha and the omega. He knows everything, from start to finish. Furthermore, God, who is supreme over all, is a loving and faithful God. His unchanging character assures us that the plans He has for us, including the answers to our prayers, are good, pleasing, and perfect.

‘With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day’ (2 Peter 3:8). In God, waiting time is not wasting time. May our hearts be glad and full of hope as we wait on the Lord. We may not know the ETA, but we know we can trust in God’s plans for us.

Our soul waits for the Lord;

he is our help and our shield.

For our heart is glad in him,

because we trust in his holy name.

Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us,

even as we hope in you.
Psalm 33:21-22

Be patient and trust in the Lord.
