Them Bones, Them Bones, Them Dry Bones…

I will bring spirit into you, that you may come to life.

Ezekiel 37:5

Ezekiel spoke his famous “dry bones” prophecy while the Israelites were exiled in Babylon. Their Temple had been destroyed, the city of Jerusalem razed and the people exiled. While the people thought the best days were behind them, Ezekiel prophesied hope and expectation. Through him, God promised to bring his people back to life and back to their homeland.

Like the Israelites in exile, we may lose hope in a world that at times sucks the life out of us. Over time, we can begin to feel just like those dry bones. So, the Lord used Ezekiel and now uses us to bring these “bones” back to life. As Ezekiel prophesied over the bones to bring spirit into them so they may come to life, so too, God wants to infuse his life into all his people and lead them out of “exile” into a kingdom that has no end!
